Keningau: Barisan Nasional (BN) might be in for a tough time in the next election if the decision to impose the car parking fees here stays.
Kapitan Cina, Chee En Kong, said the Government needs to consider the fact that about 90 per cent of the residents in the district are earning a meagre income as farmers, before allowing the collection of parking fee here.
The present economic situation, especially the steep drop of commodity prices like oil palm and rubber had resulted in the farming community in the district facing hardship, he said.
"Many towkays are also complaining due to reduction of buyers by between 40 and 60 per cent," said, Chee who is also the Keningau MCA vice chief.
In this respect, Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Hajiji Mohd Noor is expected to make a working visit here on Dec 22 to see among others the problems faced by the District Council.
Chee said the public here are welcome to submit any complaints to him at 019-8416128 or MCA Keningau chief, Jack Chen at 013-8855888 before Dec 19 so that a report could be compiled and submitted to the Minister.
